Fresh advice you can trust

We promise to always deliver the best financial advice that we can. Our writers and editors follow strict editorial standards and operate independently from our advertisers and affiliates. Learn more about how we make money.

Table of Contents

  1. Affiliate & Advertiser Disclaimer
  2. Affiliate Links
  3. Advertisements

Transparency is one of our key values. We want to be upfront about exactly how we make our money—not just because it’s the law, but because it’s the right thing to do.

Affiliate & Advertiser Disclaimer

FinanceJar partners with several companies in the credit and finance industries, such as credit card issuers and lenders.

We’ll sometimes link to these companies on our site—for instance, linking to a page where you can apply for a credit card. If you click one of these links, we receive a commission (whether or not you actually apply for the product or service).

Affiliate links are always clearly marked. We’ll never hide them in the content of our articles or try to trick you into clicking them. You’ll always know exactly what product or service is being advertised.

Our affiliate links won’t always be accompanied by information about the product or service on offer (such as a full review). However, our affiliates and advertisers have no influence over the content on our site. We’ll never give a positive review to a bad credit card just because the company is an affiliate, for example.

Affiliate Links

We’ll always apply our judgment and discretion when deciding where to place affiliate links. The last thing we want is to plaster our site with advertisements for things you don’t want.

Our goal with this approach to making money is to prioritize our readers and their experience. We try to keep our advertisements 1) unobtrusive and 2) relevant. You never have to click any of them, but if you do, our goal is to make it an ad for something you’ll actually want.

Fortunately, our relationships with our partners (and our advertisement & affiliate software) help us present links that are as relevant as possible. Several factors contribute to which products and services we’ll show you, such as where you’re browsing our site from, since we obviously don’t want to display anything that isn’t available in your area.

Again, while our relationships with our affiliates may affect which products we feature on our site and where they appear in our articles, they have no influence over what we write. We never accept compensation in exchange for positive reviews or product recommendations. Our reviews are objective, and we don’t consider our affiliate relationships when writing them.

If you’d like to know more about our editorial process, please see our editorial guidelines.

Advertisements

We don’t currently feature paid advertisements (such as banner ads) on FinanceJar.

This is largely due to our commitment to our readers. We believe that large ads that obstruct your view of the content run counter to our goal of providing the best possible reading experience. Ads like this also tend not to be as relevant as a carefully placed affiliate links can be.

Our decision not to include traditional ads lets us retain more control over our site’s reading experience, which is how we can ensure we’re not displaying anything that we think isn’t relevant or that we wouldn’t stand behind.

If we ever change our policy on this, we will update this page immediately.

Editorial Standards

We promise to always deliver the best financial advice that we can. That’s our first priority, and we take it seriously.

To ensure that our articles and reviews are objective and unbiased, our writers and editors operate independently from our advertisers and affiliates. Our writers do not take FinanceJar’s relationship with its affiliates into consideration when writing their reviews and articles.

Everything we publish is as accurate and as complete as we can make it. All of our articles undergo several rounds of fact-checking before we publish them, and we do our best to keep them as no-nonsense and jargon-free as possible while still delivering the information that you need.

We know that taking financial advice from us requires a lot of trust on your part. We’re grateful for that trust, and we won’t abuse it. Learn more about our editorial standards.

How We Make Money

FinanceJar partners with other companies in the credit and finance industry, such as credit card issuers and credit repair companies.

We make money through advertising. Our pages feature links to our partners’ websites. If you click on one of those links, we get paid.

The links to our partners are always clearly marked. You’ll always be able to tell what you’re clicking. We’ll never try to trick you into clicking anything you’re not genuinely interested in.

That’s the only way that we make money. We don’t accept compensation in exchange for reviews or articles, and we don’t directly sell any products or services ourselves. Our editorial team operates independently (with no influence from our affiliates or our advertising team) so as to avoid compromising the objectivity of our reviews.
