An economical card well-suited to travelers to Central America or the Caribbean, the Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® offers some unique and money-saving perks to offset its low rewards rates and high APR.
Quick Review
The Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® is a convenient travel card for people who regularly fly from coast to coast or between the US, Caribbean, and Central or upper South America. However, it’s worth noting that Spirit Airlines doesn’t fly to every US state or Canada.
This card’s $0 annual fee for your first year is an enticing welcome offer, and the $79 annual fee afterward still makes this card cheaper than some other travel rewards cards. Its rewards rates are average compared to cards for either travel or everyday spending: you get 3 points per dollar on eligible Spirit Airlines purchases, 2 points on dining and grocery shopping, and 1 point per dollar on everything else.
However, this card offers the unique ability to pool points with up to eight other Free Spirit rewards program members. Any member in a pool can add or redeem points from the pool, making this card especially valuable if your friends and family also travel with Spirit Airlines or have their own Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercards®.
A few other benefits sweeten the deal. Each year, you’ll earn a $100 Companion Flight Voucher to offset the cost of a guest’s fare, which is a great benefit if you travel with your spouse or partner. You also save 25% on in-flight food and drink purchases and get Zone 2 shortcut boarding for you and everyone on your reservation.
All that being said, this card’s 18.99%–26.99% (variable) APR on purchases and balance transfers, paired with the 29.99% penalty APR, can seriously punish missed payments and carried-over balances.
If you and your friends or family frequently fly with Spirit Airlines, either alone or together, the Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® benefits may be well worth that APR and annual fee.

Should You Get the Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard®?
FinanceJar verdict
The Free Spirit® Travel More World Elite Mastercard® is a worthwhile travel card if you fly with Spirit Airlines frequently. The ability to pool points makes this card especially useful if you want to help your friends or family who are Free Spirit program members save money on flights.
If you aren’t a diehard Spirit Airlines customer and want a lower annual fee or higher rewards rates, you may want to consider a card from another airline that flies to the same destinations or a non-airline rewards card that earns you more points on everyday purchases.
Who is this card for?
- Free Spirit rewards program members: If you or your friends/family members regularly fly with Spirit Airlines, you’ll appreciate the in-flight dining rebate, Zone 2 boarding, and the ability to pool points. You can also increase your Free Spirit status by earning Status Qualifying Points on your purchases.
- Couples who travel: If you travel with a spouse or other companion, the yearly Companion Flight Voucher helps you reduce the cost of flying together, and you can both board earlier with Zone 2 priority boarding.
