Quick Review

The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card is a no-annual-fee credit card that offers a simple rewards program and a suite of useful benefits. Here’s what to consider when deciding whether to apply for the Fidelity credit card:

  • 2% cash back: This card’s 2% rewards rate is great for a flat-rate card—1%–1.5% cash back are more common flat rates. The program is also easy to manage, as you don’t need to activate rewards categories or plan your spending from season to season to maximize your points.
  • Fidelity customers earn more: If you have a Fidelity account, you can hike up your rewards rate to 1.25%–3%. While this is a huge boost for an everyday cashback rate, not everyone will qualify. You must be a member of the Fidelity Rewards+ program, which requires at least $250,000 in assets in an eligible account.
  • Good and bad for travel: The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card comes with major travel benefits like travel insurance, travel assistance hotlines, and discounts and special offers on hotel stays, car rentals, and cruises. However, there’s a 1% foreign transaction fee to consider before you commit to taking this card abroad.
  • No welcome bonus: A big downside of this card is that it doesn’t come with a welcome bonus. Other rewards cards offer generous bonus points, miles, or flat cash back as an incentive for signing up for a new card. If you’re a rewards-chaser, look for a different card with more to offer upfront.

In all, the Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card is a good choice for borrowers looking for a straightforward rewards card, or for Fidelity customers who want to pad their investments with credit card rewards (which can be redeemed directly to Fidelity accounts).

Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card Pros & Cons

Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card Rates & Fees

Fees

  • Annual fee: $0
  • Balance transfer fee: 3% or $5 (whichever is greater)
  • Convenience check cash advance: 3% or $5 (whichever is greater)
  • Cash advance and cash equivalent advance: 5% or $10 (whichever is greater)
  • Foreign transaction fee: 1%
  • Overdraft protection fee: $10
  • Late payment fee: Up to $41

Interest Rates

  • Purchase APR: 17.74% (variable)
  • Balance transfer APR: 17.74% (variable)
  • Cash advance APR: 27.74% (variable)

The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card has a great purchase and balance transfer APR. This means if you’re likely to carry a balance over from one billing cycle to the next, the Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® is a good card to use, as you won’t get hit with exorbitant interest charges.

Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card Rewards

The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card earns you 2 points per dollar on all purchases (2% cash back). You can earn unlimited points and your points will not expire for the lifetime of your account.

If you are a member of the Fidelity Rewards+ program, you’ll earn rewards at a higher rate. Each level of Fidelity Rewards+ requires assets invested in Fidelity® Wealth Services, Fidelity® Strategic Disciplines, or a combination of other eligible Fidelity accounts. Here are the levels of funds you’ll need and the rewards you’ll earn:

  • Gold ($250,000–$1 million): 2.25%
  • Platinum ($1 million–$2 million): 2.5%
  • Platinum Plus (over $2 million): 3%

Rewards Redemption

You can redeem your points for statement credits, gift cards, travel, and merchandise from participating brands.

You can also redeem your rewards as one-time or automatic deposits to up to five Fidelity accounts, including:

  • Most non-retirement accounts
  • Brokerage accounts
  • Traditional, Roth, Rollover, and SEP IRAs
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
  • 529 College Savings Plans
  • Fidelity Charitable® Giving Account®
  • Cash management accounts

Point redemption to a retirement account or 529 plan will be counted towards your contribution limits for the year, so it’s important to keep an eye on your automatic redemptions to avoid any penalties.

No matter how you redeem your points, you’ll need to meet a 2,500-point threshold.

Points have a value of 2¢ per point when redeemed as a deposit to a Fidelity account, but point value may vary with other redemption methods.

Credit Reporting

The Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card is issued by Elan Financial Services, a division of U.S. Bank. U.S. Bank reports to Experian, TransUnion, Equifax, and Innovis. Comprehensive credit reporting is a bonus, since the information reported to the bureaus keeps your credit report and credit score up to date.

However, this means you need to keep up on your payments, otherwise your credit score will suffer.
