Capital One is one of the most popular credit card issuers in the US. With no foreign transaction fees and a generous selection of rewards, it’s no wonder people love their cards.

But what if you want more than one Capital One credit card? Unfortunately, there are limits to how many Capital One credit cards you can have. However, these limits vary based on the type of Capital One card—personal, business, or co-branded.

How many Capital One personal credit cards can you have?

You can have two Capital One personal credit cards open at a given time.

Capital One personal credit cards include their lines such as Quicksilver, Venture, VentureOne, Savor, and SavorOne, all of which offer rewards geared toward different types of spending (like travel or dining). Here’s a look at some of the most popular Capital One personal credit cards.

Capital One also offers credit cards for borrowers with fair credit, such as the Capital One® Platinum Mastercard® and Capital One® QuicksilverOne®, and cards for poor or limited credit, like the Capital One® Platinum Secured.

How many Capital One business credit cards can you have?

You can have up to two Capital One business credit cards open at a given time. This limit is separate from your personal card limit, so you can have four open Capital One cards—two personal cards and two business cards.

Capital One business cards are part of the Spark line, which includes cards like:

  • Spark 1.5% Cash Select
  • Spark 1% Classic
  • Spark 2X Miles
  • Spark 1.5X Miles Select

How many Capital One credit cards can you have in total?

You can have up to four Capital One branded credit cards as well as unlimited Capital One co-branded credit cards. Co-branded credit cards are issued by Capital One in partnership with another business, such as Walmart or Cabela’s. Popular Capital One co-branded cards include:

  • Capital One Walmart Rewards® Mastercard®
  • Cabela’s CLUB® Card
  • Bass Pro Shops® CLUB Card
  • Pottery Barn Key Rewards

Keep in mind that Capital One will review your credit and your borrowing history when deciding whether or not to approve you for a new card. So if you’ve failed to pay your Capital One bills on time in the past, maxed out cards, or let your credit score drop, you may not be able to qualify for more Capital One credit cards—including personal, business, or co-branded cards.

How often can you apply for a Capital One credit card?

You can apply for a Capital One credit card every 6 months.

Note that you may not be eligible for a Capital One credit card’s welcome bonus if you already have a card open with them. So if you’re only applying for a second Capital One card to get welcome bonus points or miles, reconsider.

Takeaways: You can have four Capital One credit cards

  • You can have two Capital One personal credit cards open at the same time.
  • You can have two Capital One business credit cards open at the same time.
  • You can have multiple Capital One co-branded cards open at the same time.
  • You have to wait 6 months between Capital One credit card applications.
  • You may not qualify for a Capital One welcome bonus if you already have a Capital One card.
